Project Profile
Geronimo High School, Oklahoma
“The attitude of South Industries made this a very smooth project to complete as many contractors working on the project stated it was one of the best working environments they had ever experienced. I would highly recommend to anyone exploring this type of construction to visit with South Industries for your construction needs.” -Danny McCuiston, Geromimo ISD Superintendent
South Industries began building this five dome, 44,600 square foot Monolithic Dome school for the Geronimo School district in
October of 2008. Classes began in the school in January of 2010.
Research:
During a time of district growth, Danny McCuiston, Superintendent
for the Geronimo Public schools, found that Monolithic Domes
would be a cost effective construction method for a high school that
was needed in Geronimo. He and the other school board members
visited a number of dome facilities and decided that “the design was
something which would really fit our community.”
Construction:
“After seeing the construction process, I feel the simplicity of
construction is quite impressive. Also, once the superstructure is in
place the configuration of the inside of the dome is almost limitless.”
Return on Investment:
The low construction cost was a big factor for the Geronimo school
district to build a Monolithic school. Also, now that the school is
up and running, energy costs are at least 50% less than an existing
school building of comparable square footage.
“I have yet to meet a more accepting individual than Geronimo’s School Superintendent, Danny McCuiston. Pleasant and accom-
modating from the first time I met him, he was excellent to work with while making the many decisions associated with completing their new school complex.”
