A Dream Dome Home – Fairplay, CO

A 4,000 square-foot dome home was opened to the public for the 10th annual Dome Tour. These tours are designed to educate and enlighten people’s understanding about domes, their features, and their benefits. The entire dome home is heated with a simple 50-gallon electric water heater.

The owner of the home, Keith Wortman, has had a dome home in his mind as his dream home for years. A dome home is resistant to fire and high winds and will never rot away like wood structures will. “It’s constructed like a bomb bunker. This house will be here 500, maybe 1,000 years from now,” he says.
